After seven years of having to work with developers to make changes to my website I was ready for something different. Not only did I want to be able to manage the content myself, I wanted an updated look and feel. I was drawn to the liveBooks platform by some of the best photographers in the business. Once I explored all their options I decided to go with a predesigned website template and then I added some bells and whistles. I feel like I got a lot of bang for my buck! And I did not have to compromise on the design or the functionality of my site. The set-up process was intuitive and the support team was very responsive.

My liveBooks website has already led to new business. Aside from that one of my favorite things about my site is the interactive homepage – you can see 15 of my images without a single click! How cool is that?

Paul Phillips of Competitive Image Photography has built his business capturing the indomitable spirit of sports. You can tell that sports photography is his passion just by looking at his work. He creates imagery that is as inspiring as his subjects. And that is not easy to do! You can view his work on his website or keep up with him on his blog.

To me it is SO important to not only showcase beautiful work but for your work to live in a space that is carefully curated… one that expresses your style. After having many failed and frustrating experiences with web designers I was beginning to think I would never find what I was looking for. Then one day I saw Ross Whitaker’s website and immediately called him. He told me, “Annie, look NO FUTHER…call liveBooks today!” The rest is history.

I have happily been working with liveBooks for the past four years. This is my second website with liveBooks and I recommend them to EVERYONE. Their design process is seamless and organized which makes you feel sane! Their designers are clear, concise, talented, and deliver the most beautiful design elements. My sites have been endlessly complimented and I always tell people, look no further… liveBooks is what you’ve been looking for!

Annie is inspired by interiors, architecture, textiles, light, patterns and colors. She loves incorporating these elements into every shoot and brings out natural moments by connecting with subjects and putting them at ease. We love how her custom designed interactive homepage immediately gives the viewer a compelling visual representation of what she photographs.

A professional, sleek, user-friendly site design is very important to me because I want to represent myself well to anyone who visits, whether that’s a photo editor, a client, or someone who loves dramatic skies as much as I do.

Storm chasing has exploded in popularity over the past decade, making it increasingly difficult to stand out from the many talented chasers and photographers.  A strong web site is essential, so I set out to build a site that, much like a well-composed photograph, draws the viewer’s eye to my work.

liveBooks’ website templates have the perfect combination of look, feel, and ease of use.  Building the site was simple and maintaining it is easy. Once the content was ready to go I uploaded it to my site and went live in just a few days.

I’ve been told for several years that I needed to put a website together for my images. Before signing up with liveBooks I did a lot of research. Their website designs are very clean, simple and showcase the work prominently. In almost every case, that meant full screen scaling. I was surprised to find out that most portfolio sites, even those used by well known professional photographers, do not offer this as a feature. After narrowing down my favorites to just a few that offered full screen scaling, and a full bleed image area – liveBooks was clearly the winner.

Prior to committing, I called liveBooks with a few questions. I spent almost an hour on the phone with Patrick, one of the customer support representatives. It’s funny, most of us (including myself) don’t really take customer service into consideration until after a purchase. Comments and feedback are usually left for negative experiences. But Patrick and the rest of the support team have been overwhelmingly helpful, going above and beyond anything I expected. They spent additional time with me reviewing websites, discussing options and and offering suggestions. And not just on website design but on marketing as a whole. In addition, the changes I made were updated almost immediately. I’ve never experienced a team so eager to help. When we were done, they even invited me over to their office in California!

liveBooks and their support team allowed me to take my idea of what a portfolio site should be and turned it into a reality. Almost instantly. liveBooks is clearly the best solution out there. My only regret is that I didn’t find them sooner!

Clifford Pickett specializes in editorial photography and photojournalism. His work tells many stories. We found the images he took during Hurricane Sandy to be particularly moving.

I have used liveBooks for the better part of 6 years for my commercial lifestyle and advertising photography website. I can’t imagine using anything else. I love the clean design and the fact that it is so easy to use. I have also taken advantage of liveBooks SEO capabilities - which has doubled my web traffic!

I worked with the designers at liveBooks to design my custom Scaler website and I couldn’t be happier with the results. The design team was quick and put in the extra time to make sure my site was everything I imagined. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend liveBooks to anyone looking for a superior photography website.

Mike Henry got his B.F.A. in Photography from Columbia College in Chicago. After years of portrait and business editorial, in both New York and Chicago, Mike packed his bags for sunny Los Angeles where he rebuilt his portfolio and began his career as a commercial lifestyle and advertising photographer. Mike’s work is fun, energetic, clean and sometimes leans towards quirky. The kids love him and adults feel at ease in front of his lens.

Mike now spends his time back and forth between L.A. and N.Y. shooting for advertising, editorial and fashion apparel clients. When not behind the camera you can find Mike enjoying the California beach lifestyle just outside Los Angeles in Santa Monica.

“When I first had a website I was freelance, and my liveBooks site was an invaluable way of promoting my business. Now that I’m on staff with Reuters it serves as a portfolio for my images, which helps me see how my work is developing and inspires me to constantly try to learn and improve as a photographer. I like that I’m able to change and update my portfolios simply and quickly. My liveBooks site has also opened up speaking and interview opportunities.”

The best way I can think to describe Lucy’s work is with the adjective “Live”. The sports photography on her liveBooks site plays out like an “ESPN Top 100 Sports Moments” except better; it’s energetic, spontaneous and well… live! Every image on her liveBooks site feels momentous. You will likely find your mind playing out a scenario of what might come next after each frame. For this reason, Lucy has covered the greatest of sporting events including five Super Bowls, 11 NBA finals, and recently the Olympic Games.

Lucy is also accomplished in the area of photojournalism. The emotion in her portfolios of Afghanistan and Gaza feels raw and undisturbed. Each image feels like something you would remember forever if you saw it first hand. I was especially moved by the intensity of images she captured from Gaza, in which each insightful photo captures the humanity and inhumanity of war even beyond what is tangible in the frame. To this end, Lucy’s images enable important stories to be told.

I had an existing liveBooks site that was really successful, but after 5 years it was time to upgrade it to a Scaler site. Ryan and Adam from liveBooks’ in-house design team are great collaborators. They built me a site that stayed true to my brand, and that’s also fresh in design and functionality.
David_Emmite_photography_website
Website: davidemmite.com
Photographer David Emmite’s six-year-old “What if?…” imagination sparks his experiments in photography: “What if animals were hardwired to machines?” “What if you could make a zero-gravity energy field?” “What if robots were homeless?” David trained in Atlanta at the Portfolio Center and assisted in New York before eventually landing in Portland, Oregon where he started his own studio in 1996.

His clients include HBO, Pacifico Beer, Progressive Insurance, Gatorade, Nike and many more. His work has been recognized by Communication Arts Photo Annual, Graphis Photo Annual, Archive 200 Best Ad Photographers Annual, The One Show and Photo District News “30 Photographers Under 30.”

I chose a liveBooks Scaler website for the big images, ease of use and the integration with Vimeo. I also knew I could start with a predesigned website template and then customize it to make it my own. There are SO many decisions to be made concerning a website that it can become overwhelming to the point of not beginning at all. So to start with a well designed site that has had a lot of thought put into it and having the ability to personalize it to my taste and needs, made liveBooks an obvious choice for me.

The first response I get from people looking at the site is “love the big images”. Personally I love the intuitive navigation. It is important that you do not have to search around the perimeter of the page to figure out how to navigate the site. I specifically chose a template that had the navigation roughly where I wanted it – on the right side and at the bottom – and then made minor adjustments to make the site my own.

I love the collaboration with Vimeo. Being able to connect to a proven host where I already know the workflow has made integrating video into my site SO easy. And the viewer experience is awesome.

I try to be present in all of the obvious places and portals that art buyers will be looking. All of those places just redirect to my liveBooks website as it has a strong impact. It is important for buyers to instantly know what I do – and they can tell the moment they visit my site. My liveBooks website has made it easy for me to have a successful online presence that allows me to focus on creating new work.

361 Architecture + Design Collaborative

Posted by liveBooks

Architects, like photographers, rely primarily on first impressions.  We did quite a bit of background research seeking a web developer/platform that could provide a clean visual interface for our site and simultaneously afford us the freedom to make changes quickly.  On the surface, it is difficult to discern the quality of web developers.  At 361, we value collaboration and were looking for a partner with which to co-create our site . After speaking with the liveBooks team, we were thoroughly impressed and made the decision to move forward.  From that point on, all the people that we worked with at liveBooks were articulate, responsive and timely, a far cry from what we had previously experienced in the industry.

By using liveBooks, we’ve eliminated the hassle of having to rely on someone else to modify our site.  Changes are simple, efficient and real time. In addition, they assisted in integrating our blog seamlessly into our site. Van Gogh said, “How difficult it is to be simple.”  liveBooks has met the challenge well.  Go for it!
