Fashion/Beauty Photographer

I have used liveBooks for the better part of 6 years for my commercial lifestyle and advertising photography website. I can’t imagine using anything else. I love the clean design and the fact that it is so easy to use. I have also taken advantage of liveBooks SEO capabilities - which has doubled my web traffic!

I worked with the designers at liveBooks to design my custom Scaler website and I couldn’t be happier with the results. The design team was quick and put in the extra time to make sure my site was everything I imagined. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend liveBooks to anyone looking for a superior photography website.

Mike Henry got his B.F.A. in Photography from Columbia College in Chicago. After years of portrait and business editorial, in both New York and Chicago, Mike packed his bags for sunny Los Angeles where he rebuilt his portfolio and began his career as a commercial lifestyle and advertising photographer. Mike’s work is fun, energetic, clean and sometimes leans towards quirky. The kids love him and adults feel at ease in front of his lens.

Mike now spends his time back and forth between L.A. and N.Y. shooting for advertising, editorial and fashion apparel clients. When not behind the camera you can find Mike enjoying the California beach lifestyle just outside Los Angeles in Santa Monica.

Davies and Starr

Posted by liveBooks

We have had our liveBooks website for several years and it gets us as much new business today as it did when we launched. I hate it when we have to send out an analog portfolio, all those big prints, fedexing and messengers, they put stickers on our beautiful expensive leather books, and they sometimes even steal your prints… liveBooks is the only way to showcase your work.

Davies and Starr are certainly some of the most creative people we know (and fun too:) This is a wonderful example of a website that has integrated still and video. Make sure you take a look at their innovative motion work.

We moved from hosting our own site to liveBooks about 6 years ago and have never looked back. liveBooks has stayed at the cutting edge of portfolio sites over the years which has allowed me to stay focused on my business, creating imagery. It seems every time I log in to update my site, the folks at liveBooks have added new functionality. As they have grown, liveBooks has also been able to maintain solid customer support. For me, the last piece to the puzzle was Scaler. We had been asking for larger images for the past year or so and liveBooks responded with Scaler! Now, my images automatically scale to the user’s screen which gives my work amazing impact. This is essential in the photography industry as in any visually driven business. I continue to be impressed with liveBooks and plan on using them well into the future.

Robert Tardio’s still life work is clean and razor-sharp; like you could reach into the screen and touch it. What photographer doesn’t love to see that? Robert is also represented by one of our favorite photo reps, Janice Moses, who was one of liveBooks’ earliest clients.

I’ve been using liveBooks for over 7 years now to showcase my editorial and commercial work. I recently expanded my work to include backstage images. Since I am involved with so many designers and shows, I wanted to launch a second site to display this work. I knew I needed something compatible with how I currently represent myself. At first I considered a blog, but having had so much control over the design and content of my liveBooks site  I wondered if I could take the design of my existing website and modify it to accommodate this new venture.

This seemed like a good idea, but the timing was tight. I was only a week and a half from shooting my first show in NY for fashion week when I contacted liveBooks. After 2 emails, I was already in my editSuite naming portfolios and loading imagery. The integrated design process and exemplary customer service at liveBooks made the launch of my new site (www.schmidt-show.com) seamless.

liveBooks has been so integral to the development of my career and I can’t say enough great things about them!

liveBooks is valuable to me because I can very easily manage all my content. As an artist being able to keep my work current without having to be, or need a developer is important. I wanted a custom designed website that is elegant and simple so as not to compete with my work. After working with liveBooks’ design team I think I’ve achieved that goal. It is a great value for the money.

Elizabeth Perrin is a Fashion and Portraiture Photographer focused on Editorial and Commercial work. Born in New Orleans to a family of artists, filmmakers, and photographers, she has been involved in numerous aspects of the photography and film worlds for years. Cinema has greatly influenced her work. Elizabeth’s photographs are not just about visual composition or academia, she wants to send out a visual poem, an emotional shot-in-the-arm. She thinks about and references other media when preparing for a shoot. You’ll get a sense of her finely honed artistic sensibility when viewing her still and motion work.

As a fashion and celebrity photographer, the faster the image can be put on my website, the more valuable that image is! Before liveBooks, we used cumbersome and static websites that were impossible to update quickly… or our web guy could not be found.

With liveBooks, we can edit, upload and send to the client right from the set! AMAZING!

Instant Gratification – 21st Century Art & the Mobile Phone Camera is the latest brain child from photographer, now author, Cristopher Lapp. This first-of-its-kind art book shows the limitless possibilities of what a cell phone camera can do. In 2009, he was voted by Frontier Magazine as one of Los Angeles’ 25 brightest talents. Cristopher’s celebrity and fashion photography has appeared in Vogue, GQ, and W magazines, just to name a few. His career began with hands on training in Milan, working under several well known fashion photographers. While in Italy, he studied architecture and fine art. Apprenticeships with the American Film Institute and National Geographic’s television departments were the precursors to Cristopher’s extensive portfolio coverage of all seven continents. Cristopher has taught photography at The Braille Institute for the Blind in Los Angeles and also volunteers his photography services to Camp Laurel’s Kids with HIV and AIDS. He currently resides in Los Angeles, California.

A website is one of a photographers the most important tools. My website is the face of my company. I trust liveBooks to handle and present my images, not only because they are the industry standard of online visuals but also because the tech support is fast, kind and most importantly, patient.

Jim lives and works bi-coastal in New York and Los Angeles, but the majority of his time is spent in exotic locations around the globe. He shoots pictures for advertising campaigns, fashion editorials and celebrities. Growing up as a skater and surfer in sunny, Southern California, Jim spent his high school days scouting models and finding the next great faces of the coming generation. With a passion for beauty and styling, Jim quickly became a highly respected hair and makeup artist, traveling the world and working with the biggest actors, actresses and supermodels of the time, such as Cindy Crawford, Elizabeth Taylor, Sophia Loren, and Farrah Fawcett. He worked with the world’s best photographers, such as Herb Ritts, Peter Lindbergh, Steve Meisel, and Patrick Demarchelier, to name a few, and after many years of behind the scenes experience as a hair and makeup artist, Jim picked up a camera and immediately developed his own unique style as a photographer. Jim now shoots celebrities such as Leonardo Dicaprio, Drew Barrymore, Charlize Theron, and Marisa Miller. Jim’s clients include Vogue, Vanity Fair, Elle, and Marie Claire. He also directs and shoots seamless campaigns for clients such as Mercedes Benz, J Crew, American Express, and Warner Brothers.

As commercial photographer I have always felt that the most important purpose of a website is to be able present my images in front of potential clients in the biggest, simplest and fastest way possible. I have been a liveBooks customer for a long time. They had almost everything I wanted and needed in my website. Now with Scaler liveBooks has it all!

Having a custom designed website allows me stand out. Being able to incorporate my brand makes it possible to create a consistent look and feel throughout all of my promotional pieces. Given that liveBooks is pretty much the standard for professional photographers, being unique is even more important. An advantage to working with the industry standard is that most clients are familiar with their navigation system. You do not want your viewers to take a lot of time figuring out how to view your work, because they won’t.

The editSuite is an invaluable tool because it allows me to make quick additions, changes to the sequence or layout of my portfolios and keep my online work organized. I use the FTP and client access features everyday in my workflow. I have not found a quicker, easier way to make custom pdf presentations for potential clients than in my editSuite.

I would not have a business if I did not have a liveBooks website. Having a beautifully designed, highly functional website is essential in todays market. liveBooks continually improves their offering and I am looking forward to see what they come out with next!

Paul Schefz was born in Vienna and survived long periods of not seeing much sun by taking lots of pictures. He moved to California to formally study photography at Brooks where he was able to shoot in the sun all year long. After spending many years working in a studio in New York Paul is comfortable shooting in pretty much any weather, on any continent…inside or out and can work with light of any kind. liveBooks created a transparent bridge between the web and my work. It’s sleek, fast and clients dig the iPad/iPhone capability.
