Advertising/Product Photographer

liveBooks websites are beautiful, professional and well thought out. As a full time photographer working exclusively in travel and advertising “on location” good visibility is the key to success. The liveBooks editSuite allows me to manage my website by myself wherever I am and whenever I want without having to use a web developer. Even at the airport waiting for a connecting flight! The editSuite is very easy to use, even for someone for whom English is not their native language. If I’m not sure about something, I can contact their support team and receive information quickly and easily.

My liveBooks website is one of the most important tools (in addition to my photo equipment of course…) used in my business. It allows me to make a living from photography. liveBooks provides me what I need and more!

Mathieu Dupuis is a freelance photographer based in Montreal, Canada. At barely 30 years old he already shows an impressive resume. At only 22, he signed his first publishing contract as an author and photographer with Les Éditions de l’Homme; the biggest French-speaking publishing company in North America. From this long-time collaboration emerged five hardcover selling books initiated and orchestrated by Mathieu Dupuis himself.

Shortly after these successful publications, the strong and trusting relationship between Mathieu and his editor opened doors to many photography contracts on different renowned publishing projects, leading him across Quebec and the wide Canadian territory. In between publishing projects, Mathieu maintains a well established full-time career in advertising and covering stories. Throughout the years, he was involved in numerous advertising campaigns such as the Canadian Tourism Commission and Tourisme Québec Government. He is also behind the corporate image of Quebec and Canadian National Parks since nearly 8 years.

Furthermore, he contributes to several periodical magazines such as Géo Plein air, Geographica, Canadian Geographic, Explore, Living with Style Wanderlust UK and Nature’s Best . On September 27th 2010, Mathieu Dupuis received the prestigious mention of “Picture of the day” from the National Geographic Society. Since then, several pictures of his have been added to the National Geographic Image Collection. In addition to this, NIKON has given him the honorable mention to be chosen as one of the 16 emerging talents of 2011 on the occasion of the Nikon Photo Contest International.

I have had a website presence with liveBooks for some time. The introduction of Scaler has greatly enhanced the presentation of my imagery, particularly my botanical work. Scaler allows for magnificent clarity, depth and color. The images are stunning! It is just one more tool to reach the marketplace effectively.

The ease of operation and access to support staff is unmatched. liveBooks continues to produce innovative improvements allowing the photographer to concentrate on making images.

Robert_Cleveland_Photo
Website: www.robertclevelandphoto.com
Robert’s natural affinity for the arts and the natural world as a youth, particularly botanicals, led to a three year study of biology and environmental science at Alma College. This interest evolved further as a student in the Applied and Fine Art Photography program at the celebrated College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan. Graduation was followed by a career in advertising photography, primarily in the automotive industry, with a national and international client base. However, Robert maintained his sensitivity to the intricacies of the natural world and continued to explore its magnificence.

The retired automotive advertising photographer’s mastery of technique now serves his own artistic expression. Robert is currently embracing the creative process fostering imagery with more emotional flavor and conceptual significance. He regularly exhibits in galleries and museums. His work is found in private and corporate collections as well. Most of his photography is drawn from his seasonal residence on Northern Lake Michigan and frequent trips to Southwest United States.

I had an existing liveBooks site that was really successful, but after 5 years it was time to upgrade it to a Scaler site. Ryan and Adam from liveBooks’ in-house design team are great collaborators. They built me a site that stayed true to my brand, and that’s also fresh in design and functionality.

Photographer David Emmite’s six-year-old “What if?…” imagination sparks his experiments in photography: “What if animals were hardwired to machines?” “What if you could make a zero-gravity energy field?” “What if robots were homeless?” David trained in Atlanta at the Portfolio Center and assisted in New York before eventually landing in Portland, Oregon where he started his own studio in 1996.

His clients include HBO, Pacifico Beer, Progressive Insurance, Gatorade, Nike and many more. His work has been recognized by Communication Arts Photo Annual, Graphis Photo Annual, Archive 200 Best Ad Photographers Annual, The One Show and Photo District News “30 Photographers Under 30.”

Obviously, in our industry, a striking and well thought out website is paramount. I was initially drawn to liveBooks because of the customizable template idea. I wanted a site that was uniquely mine, but needed some parameters and didn’t want to have to think about coding, etc. My primary concerns were ease of use, elegant design, and uniqueness. I worked with my own designer to come up with the overall look and the liveBooks team took it from there to make it real. It was an easy and smooth process.

I recently upgraded to the Scaler version to get bigger images for those with larger monitors. Yet, those on laptops can still view a well proportioned site without scrolling. Some modifications to my original design were required, and the liveBooks team offered up plenty of options for me to choose from. Looks great, eh?

Davies and Starr

Posted by liveBooks

We have had our liveBooks website for several years and it gets us as much new business today as it did when we launched. I hate it when we have to send out an analog portfolio, all those big prints, fedexing and messengers, they put stickers on our beautiful expensive leather books, and they sometimes even steal your prints… liveBooks is the only way to showcase your work.

Davies and Starr are certainly some of the most creative people we know (and fun too:) This is a wonderful example of a website that has integrated still and video. Make sure you take a look at their innovative motion work.

liveBooks offers a great way to get up and running quickly. The Scaler sites are great for the impact, and there are many well designed templates to choose from. The back end is made easy for the photographer, just upload and place images into your portfolio and it is instantly live.

I have a fine art website and a commercial website with liveBooks. This allows each of my two very different styles of photography to have a unique design. The sites are linked to each other as well. Your website is often the first impression for an art director and says so much about you as a photographer. Therefore it is important to choose your website wisely.

Ann_Elliott_Cutting_liveBooks_website
Website: www.cutting.com
Ann Elliott Cutting’s versatility spans subjects from science and organic images to children, sports and lifestyle. She uses many digital techniques ranging from digital imaging, large format and motion to plastic toy diana cameras. We love that no matter which type of her work you are viewing you can tell it is hers. Ann is a great example of why producing a variety of work lends itself to having more than one website. In addition to her commercial site referenced above be sure and visit her fine art and ceramics sites.

We moved from hosting our own site to liveBooks about 6 years ago and have never looked back. liveBooks has stayed at the cutting edge of portfolio sites over the years which has allowed me to stay focused on my business, creating imagery. It seems every time I log in to update my site, the folks at liveBooks have added new functionality. As they have grown, liveBooks has also been able to maintain solid customer support. For me, the last piece to the puzzle was Scaler. We had been asking for larger images for the past year or so and liveBooks responded with Scaler! Now, my images automatically scale to the user’s screen which gives my work amazing impact. This is essential in the photography industry as in any visually driven business. I continue to be impressed with liveBooks and plan on using them well into the future.

Robert_Tardio_photography_website
Website: www.roberttardio.com
Robert Tardio’s still life work is clean and razor-sharp; like you could reach into the screen and touch it. What photographer doesn’t love to see that? Robert is also represented by one of our favorite photo reps, Janice Moses, who was one of liveBooks’ earliest clients.

I initially chose liveBooks because I saw many of my respected colleagues using liveBooks websites, and I’ve always thought the sites looked so polished and modern. This was exactly the look I needed to tie together my logo, promo cards and portfolios. I have been with liveBooks for almost three years, and just completely overhauled and updated my old liveBooks site to a new Scaler site. The results are amazing! My images look so sharp on any size monitor, and the whole process was smooth and relatively painless. liveBooks support staff are very helpful, and very quick to respond.

I feel I have to stay fresh and on the cutting-edge when it comes to the design and marketing of my photography and liveBooks lives up to those standards.

A website can quite often be a first impression for potential clients. Either through word of mouth, or direction, it’s the first opportunity most people have to view our work. I feel it’s important that the initial viewing make a lasting impression.

A colleague originally turned me on to liveBooks several years ago, and it’s worked for me ever since. My initial design, developed in part by the liveBooks team, stayed with me until a brand redesign a couple of years ago. The experience of my graphic designer and the liveBooks design team working together was a very smooth process, with great success and positive feedback.

With the arrival of Scaler, it allowed us to freshen up the site once again. Using the principals of the brand, Zoelle, our Digital Artist, worked with the liveBooks design team to simplify the website to be even more streamlined. The result is what we see today.

The ability to refresh the site and make changes as required help to keep things feeling new. Ease of navigation, flexibility in design and now being able to maximizing image size all add up to a great result. The customer support staff is fast, responsive, and always follows up to make sure any issue is resolved. This is why we keep working with the liveBooks team.
